7 "Ps" of intubation
In response to our pearl from yesterday on 5 'P' Philosophy, we received following email. We are presenting it as a pearl today
I read with interest you post today with 5 'Ps' for Critical Care procedure. Actually, its true for any procedure anwhere. I always teach my residents and fellows, 7 "Ps" of intubation.
- Pre-oxygenate the patient
- Prepare the equipments
- Put down (sedate) the patient
- Paralyse the patient
- Place the tube
- Placement confirmation (via auscultation, EZcap or CXR)
- Pen down (document) the procedure
